A change to the overall HR rule was defeated and we won't be voting on that....no surprise there and there are some procedural bylaw changes regarding appeals and the like that I won't bother you with.
1. Change the rule in Men's E from offensive ejection to an inning ending out. I am in favor of this change. I believe everybody should have the opportunity to play and part of that opportunity is a chance to bat each time your spot comes up in the lineup. Right now we penalize the individual along with the team as that spot remains an out for the game. Changing it to inning ending penalizes the team in that inning and in that inning alone which just seems more fair to me. The individual who suggested the change believes, like I do, that the E division was intended as a solely recreational division and that a change to inning ending will further promote that. I'm not sure that will happen but it may influence teams to move up to avoid the penalty or avoid picking up guys that keep hitting homeruns for outs. I do think a change to inning ending would make the rule more 'team' punitive and less 'player' punitive and that makes a more level playing field for all. I'm all about participation.
2. Change the rule in all programs and allow 12 batters in the lineup instead of 11. This one is a no brainer to me. It allows a team two AH's and means more people get to play. Conversely it also means you take longer to get to your supposed best hitters at the top of the lineup. I'm all for this change.
